Currently based in Shropshire from early on I’ve been drawn to the landscape for my main subject matter. I paint with oils and like using ink, pencil and charcoal for monochrome drawings. I prefer watercolour and gouache for works on paper in colour.
Working mostly from observation in the landscape I find that memory of that experience comes into play when engaged in studio pieces. I make drawings for their own sake and as resources for paintings.
Endlessly curious by nature I’m fascinated by changing light, weather and the daily and seasonal rhythms of landscape. Now I’m also becoming more and more interested in finding inspiration from film, people, daily life, art of the past. Always learning, I’m eager to see how things develop.
