Liza Kelly draws her work from what she sees around her – a small detail, object or interior from her domestic space, or something seen in the outdoor spaces she passes through from day-to-day. In her work, Liza is interested in colour, shape and pattern and how these elements interact with each other. Her work is not strictly observational – she frequently works from sketches, and in doing so elements are sometimes added from memory or imagination. Working in this way allows her to use an observational starting point in different ways, allowing a freer interpretation of subject matter and colour.
Liza Kelly is a Dublin-based artist working mostly in painting and drawing. She has exhibited in Ireland, the UK and China and her work is held in private collections in Ireland, Europe and China.
As well as her fine art practice, Liza works as a graphic designer specialising in brand identity development and illustration. She often blends elements of her fine art practice with her design practice, looking at how analogue elements can result in unique design solutions for clients.
Liza is a fine art graduate from the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and holds an MA in Design from TU Dublin. During 2022 she is undertaking the full-time Online Drawing Development Year with the Royal Drawing School, London.
