Sarah is exploring drawing and painting as a form of communication. A former broadcast and print journalist, she likes to observe her subjects firsthand and sketches onsite with charcoal, watercolour, pencil or oil pastel. She uses the drawings to work up pieces in oil on canvas. “It’s interesting for me to see what can be revealed through Drawing.”
Sarah’s subject matters often reflect her experience in news, current affairs and humanitarianism, but she also draws inspiration from other artists, poetry and film. “I like to feel I am working with someone as it becomes a conversation.”
Sarah was born and raised in Asia and later educated in Britain. She was an arts graduate and worked for 13 years as a journalist, and in emergency relief. Sarah started pursuing art in 2008, attending London-based courses in portraiture, sculpture, watercolour and drawing.
